Importance of Website Speed in getting PageRank

“If you’re a fast site, maybe you should get a little bit of a bonus. If you really have an awfully slow site, then maybe users don’t want that as much”. He is Matt Cutts, the head of Google’s anti-spam team.  The above-mentioned words were said by him in an interview recently.

However, it has not been officially announced by Google, yet it is now quite obvious that the speed of a website will have its considerable effect on the page ranks in the search results. Recently, Google, the search engine giant, came up with Caffeine which is new search architecture, and now it comes with an even newer ranking factor – website speed.  It means that a website with good speed will have a say in the results over its competitors. The websites with the long loading time will lag behind the rivals in the fray.

But on a very practical note, it seems to be a bit strange to guess that the sites with heavy pages like images and videos will nowhere be in the first page. It cannot be practical at all, and it isn’t either. There is a thing to note here that the speed will play a key role in the case of sites with the similar contents. Logically, a text based page that takes considerably less time to load cannot be compared to the video or image dominated pages.  There will be competition in the websites with similar contents. So analyze your website speed now to get the better of your rivals.

Now when it comes to the fact as to how to analyze the loading time of the website, it is not a hard nut crack today. One can easily Google the term ‘analyze website speed’ to find out the available online tools. Some of the tools make and show the analysis in comparison with the 10 competitors’ websites to have a better understanding of the prevailed scenario.

But practically, the prime factor remains the same as the quality content will have its say in the search results over poor contents. The emphasis on the content should not be less in any sense. So there is no need to get pensive on the website speed itself, it’s a worry only when the competitors have outdone you with less page-loading time. Hopefully, the speed can be recovered after a bit of optimization on the pages and the loading time can be minimized to a greater extent. One can also opt for the SEO services to get it done. Focusing on the quality of the contents is something that will always have the same importance in the search results.
