Various types of Black Hat SEO:
If you are new to online marketing and searching for a way to launch business, so you should know the various types of techniques known as Black Hat. Most of these techniques were previously considered legit but they are now considered as unethical by internet community due to abuse. They are exploiting common search engine protocols to get unfair benefits from lawful and ethical marketers.
- Doorway Pages- This one of the techniques of Black Hat, which means use of fake pages which will never be visible by user. These pages are mainly used for search engine spiders to trick them into indexing the website and to make them put the site on the top ranks.
- Invisible Text- It means to type keywords in white text in white background to attract search engine spiders. This makes the keywords invisible which is unethical.
- Keyword Stuffing- This unethical black hat SEO technique means the use of exhaustive lists of keywords on the website in order to rank on the top of the search engines. Although, it is against the rules and regulations of search engines, discouraged by entire seo community and therefore penalized.
- Redirect Pages- These pages are just keyword stuffed landing pages that redirect to the real page. Generally, these pages don’t contain content or information that may be interested for any human. They are used to show up high in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). When someone clicks on these pages from the results, he will directly be redirected to another page usually a high-pressure sales page. Basically, it is not the page which you exactly clicked to see. These pages are redirected with a meta fresh command or through other methods.
- Duplicate Content or Website- By duplicacy I mean, putting up same content on multiple websites or having many pages on a website with the same content or information but different keywords inserted. Usually travel-oriented sites uses this method a lot like they just swap state or city names out on each page. If you have doubt that someone has copied the content from your site to his site or you just want to check it, you can simply search some content from your site text with quotation marks(“”) around it and if you find one you can Report Google.
- Cloaking- It means to display different content for human or users versus a search engine spider. Cloaking is used to deliver different versions of web pages for users and search engine spiders. The cloaked page is stuffed with keywords and phrases for which the website wants to rank higher. It is done by cloaking programs, where IP address of the requesting party is compared with a database of known IP address from specific search engine spiders. If IP address matches with one on the list, then it serves a page that specifically made for the search engines. These are good and effective exercises if used for such as targeted advertising, but if you are using it for manipulating search engine results then site could be penalized or banned.
- Code Swapping- This means to submit a text only version of a web page to the search engines to get the page ranking higher. Once the page achieve the desired ranking in search engines, search-engine friendly text is swapped out with a content page made for human visitors. This is good for a limited time period as search engines eventually return to that page and its content has changed.
- Linking to Unrelated sites- Linking to the right site using ethical techniques to increase their ranking in search engines. Always verify your links to other websites. Regularly checking outbound links from your websites is a good thing.
There are many more unethical SEO techniques. You should always make it sure that the company you are going to hire is following Ethical SEO Techniques. Choosing a company using Black Hat SEO techniques is just wasting of money and time. These techniques are eventually penalized and may become a reason to blacklist your website on search engines.
